Custom Coils has the expertise to wind both antenna and self support air coils.
We specialize in developing tooling in house and can wind custom shaped and sized
antenna coils. We have designed and manufactured round coils up to 2ft in diameter
and rectangular coils up to 2.5ft x 3ft in size. Typically these are wound with
a bondable wire that gets run through a solution to activate the bonding agent.
Once allowed to cure, the antenna coil or air coil becomes one bonded unit. This
type of coil works great in applications where a bobbin can not be accommodated.
Another specialty area is solenoids. Custom Coils has the ability to wind coils
to meet the mechanical requirements of your solenoid design. If we do not already
have the arbor or mandrel created for the exact size and shape you require, we have
the ability to create this tooling in house. These coils can be as simple as a single-layer
coil wound with 6 turns of 12GA wire up to a multi-layer coil wound with 65K turns
of a 36GA wire.
Our antenna coil winding is fairly unique for the magnetic industry. Around the
turn of the century, Custom Coils invested in several antenna coil winding machines.
These antenna coil winders allow us to wind coils from 3 inches to 24 inches long.
The antenna cores can be made from different materials like steel, PVC and ferrite.
We are able to accommodate antenna coils that have very high turn counts.
These high-turns count coils often use finer gauge wires and we often wind antenna
coils that have turn counts of 20K, 30K and even up to 60K turns. Use of finer gauge
wires usually dictates that these coils are protected by using tape covers or epoxy.
In any case, we can manufacturer the antenna coil to your specification.

Custom Coils takes pride in the fact that we test 100% of our antenna coils. Custom
Coils uses several Voltech 3600 to do all testing required. Custom design test suites
are developed based on the customer's requirements and expectations. The Voltech
3600 gives Custom Coils the flexibility to measure inductance, resistance, and leakage.
We use all these types of tests for our outgoing tests, random sampling, and TQM
initiatives.
Quality is the ultimate goal, through engineering design, manufacturing processes,
and quality control over these processes. Please contact Custom Coils and
we can help out on your projects big and small.
